Story of Maa Chandraghanta
According to the legend, once the terror of the demons started increasing, then mother Durga incarnated the mother Chandraghanta to kill the demons. At that time the lord of the Asuras was Mahishasura, who was in a fierce battle with the gods. Mahishasura Dev Raj wanted to rule Indra’s throne and heaven-world. Troubled by his terror, all the gods reach Tridevos i.e. Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh to find a solution to get out of this problem.
After listening to the troubles of the gods, the trinity got extremely angry and due to anger an energy came out of their mouth, which led to a goddess. Goddess Shankar provided her trident and Lord Vishnu gave her chakra. Similarly all other deities also handed over their weapons to the mother. Dev Raj Indra also gave the goddess an hour. Surya Dev gave his sharp and sword, also provided lion to the mother for the ride.
Mother Chandraghanta came to battle Mahishasura with all the weapons. On seeing the form of mother, Mahishasura realized that his era had come near. Fierce war ensued between Mahishasura and Devi and between gods and asuras. And finally, mother Chandraghanta killed Mahishasura and protected the gods.
