Seoul (South Korea), 16 October (IANS). South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (ICS) announced on Friday that it would begin an annual military exercise next week.

According to a report by Yonhap News Agency, hoguk exercises will run from October 19 to October 30 across the country. This would include the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

The annual Hoguk exercise, JCS said in its statement, is a defense exercise focused on the maintenance of our military readiness posture and the improvement of joint operational capabilities.

The practice was first started in 1996, the practice is held on an annual basis in the second half of each year.
