Sensex slips 1,066 points; Nifty also falls drastically

At the end of trading, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share sensitive index Sensex fell 1,066.33 points or 2.61 percent to 39728.41 and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) 50-share sensitive index Nifty fell 290.60 points or 2.43 percent to close at 11680.40. At the same time, Asian Paints, Coal India Hero MotoCorp and JSW Steel closed up on the Nifty, while Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and SBI closed down. In addition all sectoral indices ended on the red mark. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices declined by more than one per cent.
