New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Some of the people protesting in the alleged suicide case of a 17-year-old domestic help outside Model Town police station in north-west Delhi have been detained. Also, a case has been filed for violating the law. Police gave this information on Saturday.

The protesters have been booked for violations of the Delhi Disaster Management Act, Epidemic Diseases Act and IPC.

A journalist from a Delhi magazine accused a senior police officer of assaulting her after forcibly taking her inside the police station. He said that despite being told that he was a media person and had come to cover the protest, the police beat him up. He also posted photos on Twitter to show his injuries.

DCP North West Vijayanta Arya said, some protesters were staging a sit-in outside the Model Town police station to put undue pressure on the police on Friday and were trying to give the incident a different color. Despite demonstrating the facts related to the case, some protesters remained adamant, after which a case was registered.

Police said that on 4 October, she was reported to have committed suicide by hanging herself by a teenager maid in Model Town. Police, PCR and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and found the door of the room locked from inside.

The officer further said, Ahan Penkar, who was protesting among the protesters, was also detained, but was later released. He later claimed that he was a media worker.
