Petition filed in Supreme Court against Governor’s rule in BTC


Kokrajhar A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the imposition of Governor’s rule in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) suspended due to Corona. Due to Corona, Governor’s rule has been implemented by canceling elections in BTC. However, the Election Code of Conduct is still in force. The governor’s rule expires on October 27.

There are frequent agitations demanding to conduct BTC elections. The first to seek elections include the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), which has been in power since the formation of BTC, and its related organizations as well as other parties. In this episode, on Tuesday, Prithviraj Narayan Mess has filed a petition in the BTC against the Governor’s Rule numbering 1191/2000 in the Supreme Court. However, the date of hearing on this has not been decided yet.
