Many such incidents occur in our country. Those are hard to believe. Recently, a news has emerged from Bihar that will not be believed. You would be surprised to know that a woman has given birth to 8 children in just 14 months. It is not an anecdote of any film but is recorded in the government records. A 65-year-old woman in Bihar has given birth to eight girls in the last 14 months. In another similar case, another woman has become the mother of 5 girls in the last 9 months. Some women did this to get the ‘incentive money’ they give for giving birth to girls.
Gives birth to 5 girls in 9 months
In fact, under the provision of the National Health Mission, on giving birth to a girl child, the state health department gets Rs 1,400 as ‘incentive’. 65-year-old Leela Devi of Mushahari block of Muzaffarpur, Bihar gave birth to all 8 daughters and received ‘incentive money’ in the last 14 months. Another such woman, Sonia Devi, has also taken incentive for the birth of all 5 girls in the last 9 months. Whereas these women are only ‘on paper’ mothers.
Constitution of high level inquiry committee
Currently, after the matter comes to notice, a high level inquiry committee has been constituted by the District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur, Chandrashekhar Singh, headed by the Additional District Magistrate. Chandrasekhar Singh says that prima facie it looks like a scam. It may be that government officials are involved. We have set up a team to investigate. But in the midst of all this, questions are being raised on the government staff. Also, other scams are being whispered in the department. However, this entire case will be revealed only when there is a fair investigation.
