Mumbai. Theaters, cinemas and multiplexes were closed in March during the lockdown due to the Corona virus epidemic. During this time, many filmmakers released their film on OTT platforms. Now the country’s major multiplex chains have decided not to screen films that were released on various OTT platforms during the Corona virus shutdown. The government has given permission to open cinema halls and multiplexes from October 15 as per Unlock 5 guidelines. Preparations are being made to re-open theaters on October 15. Many films that were released on the OTT platform during this time will be re-released on the big screen. However, the country’s multiplex chain has decided not to screen these films.
Earlier, Multiplex opposed the decision of the producers who opted for digital release of their films. Several big films like Shoojit Sarkar’s film Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, Sadak 2, Dil Bechara, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Khuda Hafiz premiered on various OTT platforms. Theaters remained closed due to the corona virus epidemic. Film and trade analyst Taran Adarsh has given information about this on social media.
