The Kerala State Film Awards were announced today (October 13, 2020) by the state’s Cultural Affairs Minister AK Balan. The awards, traditionally announced in March, were postponed due to the outbreak of Kovid-1 out and the ensuing lockdown. Photographer Madhu Ambat screened 11 films in front of the jury.

Best Movies: Spring

Second best film: Kenchira

Best Actor: Suraj Vanjarammudu (Android Kunjappan version 5.25 and distortions)

Best Actress: Kani Kusuti (Biryani)

Best Director: Lijo Jose Peliceri (Jallikattu)

Best Character Actor: Fahad Fasil (Kumbhalangi Knights)

Best Personality Actress: Swasika (spring)

Best screenplay original: En: Rahman Brothers (Vasanti)

Best converted screenplay: PS Rafiq (Thotapan)

Best films with popular appeal and aesthetic value: Aquarius night
