KKR vs CSK: Kedar Jadhav struggled to go and was finally unbeaten on 7 off 12 balls.BCCI / IPL
Former India opener Virender Sehwag has slammed the Chennai Super Kings’ despicable IPL 2020 campaign. Some of the team’s batsmen consider the franchise a “government job” that guarantees a reward regardless of performance. Chasing 188, veteran opener Shane Watson hit his second consecutive half-century to give CSK a perfect start on Wednesday but the team lost at the end of the innings and limited him to 1,157 for the fourth defeat in five matches.
“He should have been chased. But the dot ball played by Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja was of no use,” Sehwag told CricketBuzz.
“And in my view, some of the batsmen in the Chennai Super Kings consider CSK a government job. Whether you perform or not, they know they will get paid,” he added.
CSK added just 1 run in 11-1-14 overs. During that time, Watson and Ambati Rayudu were defeated. Kedar Jadhav, who was sent ahead of West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, hit seven off 12 balls. KKR won by 10 runs.
This is not the first time batsmen have let the team down. Last week, the MS Dhoni-led team Sunrisers almost lost a fight after a top-order drop from Hyderabad.
The three-time champions have lost four of their last six matches and are sixth in the eight-team IPL points table. On Saturday, they will take on Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore.
