IPL 2020, SRH v KKR: Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently fifth in the points table with points.BCCI / IPL
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been really inconsistent with their performance after winning three and four matches in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Led by their new captain Ian Morgan, KKR lost to defending champions Mumbai Indians, while Sunrisers Hyderabad lost twice in a row. Both sides would like to get their campaign back on track by taking advantage of the mistakes made by their insecure opposition. KKR are currently fourth in the points table with eight points from eight matches, while the 201 cha champions are six points behind them in the same game.
In the last meeting between the two sides earlier this season, the Kolkata-based team comfortably defeated Hyderabad by seven wickets.
Shubhaman Gill was the star for KKR in that game, scoring an unbeaten 70 off 62 balls. KKR hopes that the leading batsman this season will carry out his innings in a similar manner and lay a solid foundation for the order of exploiting explosive batsmen.
Hyderabad, led by leg-spinner Rashid Khan, have been impressive so far this season. The top 15 wicket-takers have three bowlers in the top 15, while Varun Chakraborty has KKR in the top-20. Finished with six wickets to his name.
While this is an important game for both sides, the tournament is even more important for David Warner and his team as they are gaining points after playing similar matches between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. They will be eager to change and widen the gap between them and the two former champions below them. The silver lining for SRH is that they have a positive net run and a win against KKR will place them in the top four.
On the other hand, KKR is expected to strengthen its position by adding two more points in the top half of the IPL 2020 points table. Despite the challenges, both teams will not be able to afford to make the same mistakes again and will be expected to bring their best when both teams take to the field.
