IPL 2020, RCB vs KXIP: KL Rahul scored a penalty half-century as he defeated RCB by a wicket.. Twitter
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul said his side was not in the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table. Rahul’s remarks came after the team beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a wicket in Sharjah on Thursday. Despite the win, KXIP remained at the top as they have only four points. “I have no idea, this (heartbeat) could be the highest. I don’t even have the words. We know we have to move on. We have a better side than where we are at the points table.” Glad we crossed the line, ”Rahul said in his post-match presentation.
KXIP has played eight matches so far and has won only two of them. What is special is that both the victories of KXIP in the tournament have been against RCB.
“We need this victory to gain some confidence,” he said.
“As a group we get frustrated. They can get frustrated. Our skills were good, but we didn’t capitalize on the big moments. It becomes a habit – to win and to win. There are ups and downs and that’s what happened.” We wanted to gain confidence, “he said.
During the match, Rahul and Chris Gayle scored half-centuries to help their team chase the 122-run target. Rahul scored an unbeaten 61 while Gayle scored 53.
Praising Gayle’s performance, Rahul said: “He (Gayle) has not been feeling well for the last few weeks. But, he is hungry even at the age of 1. He always wanted to play from day one.”
“It was a tough challenge not to make him play. It’s important to keep the lion hungry. Wherever you bat, it’s dangerous. He has accepted the challenge as well. He will still be scared,” he added.
