Rajasthan Public Service Commission is a reputed recruitment institution of the country and the state. Its technical and examination changes have been adopted by the Public Service Commissions of various states. RPSC provides more transparency and facilities to the candidates than the Union Public Service Commission. Many process improvements have been made, from application to examination, results, counseling and interview. This has increased confidence in the candidates and general public. This is to say, Deepak Upreti, former President of RPSC.

Question- What improvements and innovations happened during the two-and-a-half-year tenure that benefited the candidates and the state?
Computerized bar code on every page of up-graders in which the entire horoscope of the candidate is hidden, used it. From applications to recruitments, candidates used to make petitions in the court. A Pre-litigation Committee was formed in the Commission to hear these problems. This benefited the candidates.

The question-interview process was often questioned, what formula did you make that changed?
In the interview of up to one hundred marks, the board used to ask the question to the first candidate. This caused many technical problems. Changed the process to make the interview better and transparent. Gone. Now forty percent of marks (40 marks), 20 marks of academic and 40 marks of interview have been placed in the scrutiny examination. The 20 marks of academic also includes specific qualification (75 percent), first class, second class and only passed category. This results in a complete evaluation of the candidate.
Question- You did many important examinations only in Ajmer, why did the DPC first start to do Jaipur as well?
Upreti-RPSC is a strong institution. Being in Ajmer further enhances its reputation. In Ajmer, auto, taxis, hotels, rickshaws and restaurants got employment by conducting competitive scrutiny examinations. Second commission is a constitutional body, so why should we go to Jaipur for DPC…. So started the DPC of police, revenue, RAS and other departments here. So that everyone gets a chance to see and understand the reputation and functioning of this institution.

Question- In two and a quarter years, any work that you could not do, or any obstacle which has disturbed the Commission?
Upreti-took charge on 23 July 2018, when the candidates were agitating in front of the Commission by placing tents at 8 to 10 places. One by one they solved their legitimate demands and problems. The joining of RAS 2016 candidates, Sub Inspector / Platoon Commander Recruitment Examination-Interview, Professor Recruitment, Principal Recruitment, Agriculture, Senior Teacher and other recruitments were completed on time. Thousands of candidates have got jobs in two years. This is also our moral responsibility. Petitions on RAS 2018 preliminary-main examination were resolved, the results were out. There is no problem now.
