Earlier, on July 31, 55,000 cases were reported in India, 52,050 cases on August 4 and (55,079) cases on August 18.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India is now witnessing a steady decline in coronavirus cases. On 9 October, the number of active cases in the country had gone below 9 lakh.
The number of active patients in the country is currently 8,38,729, 62,27,295 patients have recovered and gone home. After 706 deaths in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths has now risen to 1,09,856.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the recovery rate in the country is 86.78 percent and the death rate is 1.53 percent.
Maharashtra however remains the most affected state by coronavirus. So far, 15,35,315 cases have been recorded, while the total number of deaths is 40,514. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 10,73,014 samples were examined in a single day in India, after which the total number of samples tested was 8,89,45,107.
