Design- Integrates seamlessly with interiors
Google’s design feel is unique and very natural, be it smartphones or audio products. The language of the design combines aesthetics and seamless integration, which requires a product like a smart speaker that blends seamlessly into your residence. In addition, Google is ensuring that new products have a minimal footprint on the environment. Available in wheel and charcoal color options, Nest Audio’s fabric is claimed to be made of recycled plastic bottles. Google says the new smart speaker’s fabric, housing, legs and some smaller parts are made from 70 percent recycled plastic, meaning the speaker has less environmental impact than competing products.
Some more color options, Google?
I am testing ‘chalk’ color variants that have subtle light gray fabric houses. It blends seamlessly against the white background of my room; However, I would love to see some bright color fabric tops for Nest Audio. And unlike the original Google Home’s cylindrical casing, Nest Audio has a flat attachment with soft curves that give it a very distinctive look and feel. There is no smart speaker on the market that is like Nest Audio and that makes it look unique. The Nest Audio weighs 1.79 kg and measures 6.9 x 4.9 x 3.1 inches. This is a ship with 4 feet 11 inches of cable to help connect with electrical outlets. The length of the cable has been cut in half by the original Google main speaker.
Buttons and controls
There are three touch spots at the top of the speaker for capacitive touch controls and there are no icons. The spot in the middle acts as a play / pause button and both sides allow you to control the volume level. If you want to reset the speaker, just press and hold the top position for about 15 seconds. There is a flip switch on the back of the speaker unit to help you disable the microphone. The controls just work well but since there are no marks you are bound to lose spots while manually controlling the level. The front has four LEDs that are fun when you set up the device and request an assistant. The only thing that appears here is a 3.5mm input for wired playback.
Set-up process, streaming service, utility and microphone response
If you already have Google Assistant back smart smart speakers at home you need to be familiar with the setup process. If Nest Audio is your first Google Environment product, follow the products listed below to set it up.
- Download the Google Home app and log in with your Google Account username and password.
- Open the Google Home app and see the ‘Nest Audio Set Up’ notification at the top of the screen and tap on it.
- If you already have a Google main device connected to your Google Account, you’ll be prompted to select a specific unit; Otherwise, the app may be searching for nearby Google Nest tools.
- Select the Nest audio device and tap “Next”. The app will then connect to the device.
- If the app is unable to show your device, tap the Add (+) button at the top of the main screen to add nest audio.
After the setup post, you can customize all the important settings of Nest Audio through the Google Main Partner app. The app lets you get a deep and troublesome response tweak to the speaker, audio and video streaming services (Spotify, Song, YouTube Music, Netflix, Geosavon), video streaming devices (Android TV / Tablet via casting), Routine set, Broadcast Google Home Devices Required) and more. You can reduce the amount of responses and reduce the brightness of four LEDs at bedtime, check paired bluetooth devices, add two nest audio, set default music speakers (multiple Google home devices are required) and adjust the sensitivity of “this Google” Voice commands to request assistant.
Use as intercom or broadcast message
Using Google Home speakers as an intercom or sending a broadcast message is really fun. You’ll need more than one Google Home device to use these features. The microphone response seems to have improved a bit compared to the original home. You should enable the ‘Lower Volume Listening’ feature in the Google Home app for more microphone response when audio is flowing. Last but not least; You can also use Google Duo on Nest Audio to make calls on mobile phones and tablets if you are actively using the Google calling service.
Before we talk about audio performance, you need to know that speaker placement can have a direct effect on audio delivery. Since Nest Audio is not a degree-0 speaker unit, you need to find the right place or at least one placement to get the most out of this smart speaker for a busy listening experience. Nest Audio has a 75mm woofer and a 19mm tweeter, which according to Google makes the new speaker 75 percent louder than the original Google Home and increases bass distribution by up to 50 percent. Since these elements are located on the front side of the main body of the speaker, make sure that no object obstructs the face of the speaker.
So as far as audio delivery is concerned, Nest Audio will not disappoint you at all with its price. In fact, it is the best sounding smart speaker in the respective price bracket. Good tuning and powerful audio delivery is the secret. Google is not lying when the brand mentions that Nest Audio is louder than the original home. And despite the impressive volume, the audio is clean without crystals. You will not hear any frequency overlap or distortion even when the music is playing at maximum volume.
Balanced and quality audio
Nest Audio has a very balanced sound signature that creates a very high-quality and enjoyable music experience. There are plenty of deep and creaking sounds crisp and rich. The triple response is also handled very well, and if you feel that a particular track needs more characters, you can tweak the base and trouble response from the built-in equivalence of the Google Home app. You don’t need them to match your audio delivery with content in the stream of Nest Audio. The difference in tuning is not drastic but you can experience it from time to time.
The soundtrack of Nest Audio is not of width but Rs. 7,999 (MRP), better than this. Overall, the Nest Audio Sub-10K is the smartest speaker in the price segment. It feels more clean and rich. Introductory price Rs. 6,999 doesn’t make Brenner a deal.
If you want easy access to quality audio and smart speakers at affordable prices, Nest Audio is the answer. It is neatly designed to give you the best possible listening experience at Sub-10K Price-Point. You also have the option of purchasing the recently launched Xiaomi i Smart Speaker but don’t expect performance like Nest Audio.
The MI Smart Speaker is strictly for customers on a low smart budget. It is priced at Rs. 99,999 (selling price – Rs. 4,499) and Netst Audio’s mysterious audio delivery, premium and subtle look and feel and lack of live software support from Google. In short, Nest Audio is currently the best overall smart speaker on the market in the sub-10K price segment.
