Women’s Commission chairperson seeks report from police chief in gang rape case
Ahmedabad. The case of rape by a dalit girl in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, was still not resolved. Meanwhile, two embarrassing cases were reported from Jamnagar and Mahisagar districts of Gujarat. A 17-year-old teenager was raped by four men in Jamnagar. Police have arrested three accused in this case. The incident of gangrape from Jamnagar has caused a lot of outrage among the people. In Mahisagar district, a woman was raped by two youths. Two of its accused have also been arrested by the police.
It has been reported that four youths raped her in Jamnagar on 17-year-old minor by feeding them sleeping pills. The teenager is admitted to the hospital. A police complaint has been filed against four people in this case on Sunday. Police have arrested the three accused on the basis of the complaint. While one person is absconding right now.
The second incident is reported Saturday. A poor woman was raped by two youths in Santrampur town area of Mahisagar district. For the last 15 days, two youths were threatening a poor woman of Santrampur Nagar Tehsil area. It is alleged that both the youths called the woman to her house and raped her. The victim alleged that the youth threatened to kill her along with both her children. The victim has lodged a complaint at Santrampur police station. The Santrampur police have arrested both the accused. It was learned that both the accused had raped. Both the accused were repeatedly blackmailing the victim and repeatedly raping her against her will.
These incidents of rape have been taken seriously by Gujarat State Women Commission chairperson Lilaben Ankolia and ordered an inquiry. He has sought the report of the gang rape case from the Mahisagar police chief.
