According to the data released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, electricity consumption has increased by more than 11 percent in the first fortnight of October this year, showing that there has been a significant improvement in commercial and industrial demand for electricity after the lockdown relaxed. .

According to the data, electricity consumption in March 2020 was down by 8.7 percent. Thereafter it declined by 23.2 percent in April, 14.9 percent in May, 10.9 percent in June, 3.7 percent in July and 1.7 percent in August. Electricity consumption was up 11.73 percent in February. After six months in September, electricity consumption grew by 4.6 percent to 112.43 billion units. The figure stood at 107.51 billion units in September 2019.
