Did Apple really remove the power adapter from iPhones to reduce carbon emissions? This is what we think

If there is any smartphone brand that would dare to launch a phone without any physical port, it is none other than the other moment. The company is known for choosing a design that will probably create controversy across the industry, which will then be matched by other brands over the years.

Did Apple remove power adapters from iPhones to reduce carbon emissions?

When Apple Paul removed the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, it was called a bold move. One reason to remove the headphone jack is to advertise your own wireless earphones – Apple Paul AirPods. Android OEMs are currently trolling OEM Pal for not including a power adapter in the box, and I’m sure they will follow Apple Pal in the next few years.

Removing the charger and headphones from the box

Apple Pal recently announced the iPhone 12 series of smartphones, and the company has confirmed that the retail package will no longer include headphones and power adapters. Apple Paul said the company reduces e-waste (2 million metric tons of carbon emissions) production by a large margin without including a power adapter in the package.

If the package does not include a power adapter and earphones, the company will also save some money, which is always good for business. If this is really a move to reduce carbon emissions, the company should include a USB A to Lighting port. Most iPhones (except the iPhone 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max) ship with a power adapter with a USB A female power adapter. However, another debate would have erupted saying that this is an old technology.

In addition to removing the power adapter from the iPhone 12 series, retail packages for the iPhone 11, iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone XR will also follow the trend by shedding light on the USB Type-C port.

An interesting feature unveiled during the launch of the iPhone 12 by 12 Pal is MagSafe, which is a wireless charging technology. MagSafe uses chargers and magnets to align the iPhone. It can charge up to 15W on the iPhone 12, and the brand also unveiled a series of first-party accessories that won’t interfere with charging.

Over the next few years Apple will be working on MagSafe technology to include more features. Looking at Apple’s track record, the company will finally dig a lighting connector to offer a completely bezel-less iPhone in the next few years.

Having no physical port will help the brand to make the phone more resistant. However, if this is indeed true, then I am very curious about the method used for data transfer.
