Death toll due to poisonous alcohol in Ujjain is 14, 8 accused arrested


Ujjain The number of people who died due to drinking poisonous liquor in the district has increased to 14 in the last two days. Earlier these people were believed to be under suspicious circumstances, but late Thursday night the post-mortem report came out, the matter was revealed that these people died due to drinking poisonous liquor. After this, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh, a case has been registered against 71 people who are doing illegal liquor business and some of them have also been arrested. State Security Act (Rasuka) has been imposed on some. Along with this, four policemen including Kharakuan in-charge ML Meena, SI Niranjan Sharma have been suspended.

It is noteworthy that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, SIT reached Ujjain late on Thursday and started the investigation of the case. The team of SIT consists of Home Department Secretary Rajesh Rajaura, ADG SK Jha and Ratlam DIG Sushant Saxena. On Friday morning, this special investigation team first reached the old office Regal Talkies building in the city, where the employees present were questioned. After this, the officer reached Kharakuan police station and inquired about the case.

The bodies of two laborers were found on the pavement of Chhatri Chowk inn in Ujjain on Wednesday morning. After this, two other laborers were found in critical condition, who died during treatment. Another person’s body was found near Madhav Goshala at around 7 pm on Wednesday evening, while the body of an 85-year-old man was found in the parking lot of Chhatri Chowk. Another person died during treatment. In this way, seven people died on Wednesday. It was told that all of them had drunk Jhinjhar (raw liquor) and the police was investigating the case, but the bodies of two laborers were also disturbed on Thursday morning from Narsingh Ghat and Dhaba Road area. Both these workers were addicted to alcohol. After this, five workers died more by Thursday evening. That is, a total of 14 people have died in two days. According to the police, all the laborers used to buy cheap jhinjar from Kaharwadi area and drink it.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan held a high-level meeting on Thursday morning and handed over the investigation to the SIT. Along with this, SP Manoj Singh on Thursday suspended Kharakuan police station in-charge ML Meena, SI Niranjan Sharma, constable Sheikh Anwar and Nawaz Sharif. The SP said that so far investigation has revealed that some people used to prepare poisonous liquor in the old municipal office near Gopal temple. Workers and monks used to buy them.

According to the police, the identity of the dead was Vijay alias Krishna (41) son Mangal Bhati resident Nagda, Shankarlal (40) son Navalji resident Nagda, Dinesh (45) son Maganlal resident Vishnu colony, Peerushah (45) son Yusuf Shah resident Naliya Bakhal, Bablu ( 40) son Tikaram Yadav resident Chandrashekhar Azad Marg, Omkar Singh (70) son Moti Singh resident village Umaria Agar, Badrilal alias Ratan (62) son Bherulal alias Piruji resident village Kanhakheri, Jharda, Kalu (20) son Kailash resident Khaiya, Pappu ( 50) Son Kachru Singh resident Jahangirpur Ingoria, Prakash (40) resident Indoregate, Jeetu (45) and three 40, 80 and 60 year old people are unknown. An attempt is being made to identify those three.

Police said that among the accused, baby husband Bhupendra, Bhupendra Kahar, Raju Mirchi’s son Ramchandra Kahar, resident Narsingh Ghat Colony and his son Deepak, Jeevan son Babulal Kahar resident twenty-four Kambha Marg, Ashok son Teju Kahar, resident of Kaharwadi and two other people arrested has been done. Also many people have been taken into custody. Apart from this, the police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the accused named Alexander, Gabbar and Yunus. Also Collector Ashish Singh has taken action against Rasuka on the makers of poisonous liquor.
