In the 34th match of IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan hit the first century of his IPL career. Chasing the target of 180 runs by Chennai Super Kings, Dhawan scored an unbeaten 101-run knock off 58 balls with 14 fours and a six. After the match, Dhawan said that he is happy that he can convert his 20–30 run innings into a big score and he wants to continue this form even further.

Regarding his first century, he said after the match “It is very special. It has been 13 years playing IPL. It is very special and I am very happy. At the beginning of the tournament I was hitting the ball, but I was 20- I was unable to convert the score of 30 in the half-century. When you start doing this, your self-confidence grows. I would like to continue this form even further. ”

After winning the toss in this match, Chennai Super Kings decided to bat first. CSK did not start well, with their new opening opener Sam Curran becoming a victim of Deshpande in the first over without opening an account. This was followed by an 87-run partnership for the second wicket between Shane Watson (36) and Faf du Plessis (58). After this Rayudu scored an unbeaten 45 and Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 33 runs from 13 balls to reach the team score of 179. Dhoni once again failed and he became the victim of Nortje on a personal score of 3.

Delhi achieved this goal with a single ball thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s century and Akshar Patel’s smoky innings in the final over. Akshar played a blistering 21-run knock off 5 balls with the help of 3 sixes.
