New Delhi, 8 October (IANS). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday mourned the demise of its former director Ashwini Kumar. Kumar was found dead at his residence in Shimla on Wednesday.

CBI spokesman R.K. K. “The CBI is very sad to hear the news of the death of former CBI Director Kumar,” Gaur said in a statement. The CBI extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.

He also prayed to God to provide strength and strength to the family of the former top officer in this hour of grief.

Gaur said that CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla has also mourned the demise of the former agency chief. He said that we have feelings with the bereaved family over this sad incident. May his soul rest in peace, Gaur said.

Gaur said that Kumar, a 1973 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, took over as CBI director on August 2, 2008 and retired on November 30, 2010.

He was the 24th director of Uike since the agency’s formation in 1963.

Gaur said that before joining the CBI as a director, Kumar had also been the Director General of Police of Himachal Pradesh for two years.

He said, Kumar was beautified by the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1989 and the President’s Police Medal for District Service in 1999.

The former CBI chief was found dead at his residence in Shimla on Wednesday evening.
