OnePlus is in the discussion once again, and this time, it’s not for new smartphones. Instead, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei is said to be leaving the company to start a new venture. The report also found that Emily Dai, head of OnePlus India, is now head of the Nord Project – which was developed primarily by Pei.

According to a report from TechCrunch, Pei has not personally confirmed his exit from the OnePlus company. The report states that he is launching his venture, but has not yet confirmed the details. For all we know, we’ll be seeing a line of premium flagship smartphones soon.

Looking back, the company was kickstarted in 2012 by the popular OnePlus duo – Carl Pay and Pete Law. From a small company with a limited market share, OnePlus has grown into one of the most popular brands in the smartphone industry. The company, famous for its flagship smartphones, recently entered mid-range devices like the OnePlus Nord, which was developed primarily by Pei.

The OnePlus 8T – the new flagship – will be out before Carl Pechi launches. Also, the company is preparing to launch some more smartphones under the Nord brand, including the OnePlus Nord N10 series. The OnePlus 8T and OnePlus Nord N10 series will be launched tomorrow (October 14).

The flagship OnePlus 8T was officially unveiled by the company and is said to be and Mazon exclusive. Teasers have revealed that the incoming phone will feature a 120Hz refresh rate, 65W fast charging technology, an upgraded Snapdragon 865 chipset and an advanced quad-camera setup.

What’s next

So far, none of the reports have any information on what Carl Pay will do next. The news is that Pei plans to launch his venture soon. We’re looking at some niche smartphones and other gadgets like earbuds. However, it is too early to guess on the details.
