new Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Delhi government of not setting up smog towers as required, despite the Supreme Court’s directive. The party questioned that it has been more than nine months, yet how many smog towers were installed, the Delhi government should answer this.
BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma said that the Supreme Court had banned the construction in Delhi last year and the Kejriwal government had not imposed it. On December 2019, the Supreme Court had asked the Delhi government to erect smog towers within three months. It has been more than nine months now and the Delhi government should tell how many smog towers were installed. He said that today it has become proof that there is more pollution than local factor inside Delhi.
Sharma said that she wants to ask the Delhi government what else she is doing besides tweeting, accusations and just pretending.
Nupur said that recently Union Minister Prakash Javadekar told that the daily data of burning stubble changes and on average it is 4 percent. On this statement, the Delhi government raised a figure of November 1, 2019.
Sharma said that today a big newspaper has reported that the share of pollution caused by stubble burning in Delhi-NCR air pollution on Wednesday was PM 2.5 1 percent, while it was 6 percent on Thursday and 18 percent on Friday.
The BJP spokesperson said that the Delhi government has announced a budget of 65 thousand crore rupees this year and has allocated only 52 crore rupees to the environment department.
