The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will elect its office bearers on October 1 at its annual general meeting. Elections were scheduled for April, but were postponed due to the Kovid-1p alliance. The AFI postponed the elections in May and extended the term of office at a special online general meeting. At the time, the federation said elections could only be held “in person” and not online.
Elections for the 2020-24 term will be held on the first day of the AGM and will conclude on November 1.
“The annual GBM of the Thethletics Federation of India will be held on October 31 and November 1, 2020. As per the AFI Constitution, each Permanent State / UT will be represented by two representatives and the other concerned members will be represented by one representative,” AFI said in a circular.
Candidate applications can be filled from 1st of October to 21st October and the final list of contesting candidates will be announced on 2nd October.
Incumbent President Ile Dil Sumariwala will be contesting for the third time in a row. The federation has elected a new secretary this time. Incumbent Secretary CK Walson has joined the Asian Athletics Association.
