Ali Fazal ready for the release of the web series Mirzapur 2, Responded to the social media trend of ‘boycott Mirzapur’. Asked if art would be at the mercy of trends, Ali posed an important question. He further said that if trends are determining what happens in the society, then why aren’t there trends on important issues like farmers’ protests and the dire situation of epidemic diseases?

Speaking to Times Now, Ali said, “We have to decide what bar we set. Are we at the mercy of a trend? No! I don’t look at art that way. Are we at the mercy of someone? Who decides who watches our show and who doesn’t?” App? No, I think it has really gone down. I have said that if you are really talking about trends, I have never seen any trend related to farmers – there have been protests all over our country. But I will not say that It’s not an important story, it’s the most important story. Suddenly (epidemic) has become the last story everywhere in everyone’s mind. It’s not trending anymore but it’s still the biggest problem we’re facing.

Trailer Release Mirzapur 2 The #boycott Mirzapur became the most popular trend in India due to the negative reaction on social media on Tuesday. Ali and series producer Farhan Akhtar have credited the response to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

“We are trying to create something better. We are trying to work internationally on a similar platform. We should not be disappointed by certain elements of society,” he added.
