Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Virendra Kanwar has said that 13 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will be formed in the first phase in Himachal Pradesh and at least 100 farmers will be associated with each FPO, including one The crop will be given priority.

Kanwar said that through FPO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a big vision to the country, under which one product will be promoted in each district, it has been named one district-one product. Nabard has been made the nodal agency for this. NABARD will provide information to farmers regarding the value addition of their produce.

He said that potato in district Una, ginger and garlic in Sirmaur, maize in Hamirpur and Kangra are the main crops. Similarly, there is turmeric in Bilaspur district, apple in Shimla and Kinnaur and potato in Lahaul. Farmers will get better prices for their produce through FPO.

Agriculture Minister Virendra Kanwar said that the state will get Rs 1200 crore from the projects for setting up value addition in Himachal Pradesh by creating FPO. A master plan will be prepared soon in this regard, so that farmers can be provided with the right information.

He said that through FPO, farmers will have complete freedom to sell their produce anywhere and they will be free from the clutches of middlemen. On the creation of FPO cluster, he said that this will give the farmers a chance to become part of an effective system of agricultural work, which will not only strengthen them financially, but will also enable them to learn new techniques and marketing related to farming. .
